Title: Traffic Management Plans for emergencies

Abstract:
Emergency situations produce a big impact in traffic flows and demand a suitable response on the part of the Administrations responsible for the traffic and road management. It is, therefore, necessary to prepare, in advance, a set of effective and coherent actions that help to minimize the consequences of the problems as soon as possible.
The purpose of this presentation is to show the Spanish approach to work with emergency situations. Emergencies situations can be classified in:
a) General emergencies, which include global emergency plans, such as evacuation of a public event, evacuation of a port or airport, etc.
b) Specific emergencies, such as heavy goods vehicles, closure of tunnels due to accidents, etc.
In the presentation, two different emergency situations and his related Traffic Management Plans will be presented: a TMP for nuclear power station emergencies and a TMP for weather problems.
