Abstract:
The presentation deals with the overall approach used in developing and validating traffic management plans for traffic on the Alps corridors between Bavaria, Austria and Italy in the CORVETTE area. A mixture of top-down approach based on developing strategies for managing traffic and bottom-up approach based upon developing road-side and traffic centre implementations for integration within cross-border measures is used. An overview is provided on the particular characteristics of Alpine TMPs. In particular, the presentation focuses on pragmatic efforts made to develop a cross-border co-operation framework and consensus for the development and implementation of the cross-border TMPs. Snapshots of the various levels of TMPs developed and under planning are provided for illustration purposes. Future plans and next steps for the deployment and operation of these TMPs are also discussed.
