Abstract:
The presentation provides an overview and analysis of past efforts in ITS Euro-regional projects to develop and implement traffic management plans. Focus would be on cross-border TMPs and how successful they were in addressing the various strategic, technical and institutional needs and requirements. Insight into typical problems encountered in the development and validation of TMPs in addition to some solutions developed and tried would be presented. Various strategies for a successful implementation and deployment of cross-border TMPs, linking past efforts to future actions, would be provided. A case study of the national Swiss initiative to develop and implement national and international TMPs would be presented. Audience discussions on ways to proceed forward with TMP development in the coming years would be initiated.
